You COULD send a letter or visit in-person (to your location)… but if you want to cancel WITHIN the app, just change your location to California. This is because CA law requires companies to allow customers to cancel subscriptions online, or within an app.

In other words, you will most likely need to change your address (in the 1st link). But you can try the 2nd link first, if you want to skip that process (if it allows you to, hopefully).

What Are the Options You Can Choose to Cancel?

Conveniently, Planet Fitness gives you the option to pause/freeze for 2 months, and automatically restart. During this period, you won’t be charged monthly fees, but note that annual fees may still apply depending on your membership agreement.

Otherwise, you can fully cancel.

But if your membership has a minimum term (such as a 12-month commitment), cancelling before the term ends may incur a $58 buyout fee. Check your membership agreement for details. Once cancelled, you’ll retain access to the gym until the end of your current billing cycle.

After Your Planet Fitness Membership Ends

After cancelling, you should receive confirmation from Planet Fitness — whether in the app, via email, or in-person.

Check your bank statements to ensure no further charges occur.
